An all-black palette presents a dramatic makeover in the kitchen of a colonial-style house built in 2009. Custom cabinetry, luxury appliances, and the striking black-with-streaks-of-white countertop and backsplash stone combine to create an impressive transformation. The existing kitchen had a neutral palette, much smaller island, and an awkward peninsula – with chairs facing in towards the kitchen – that impeded the traffic flow to the adjacent family room space. The custom built-in hutch was a labor of love and collaborative effort between the homeowner and the design and build teams.
