Teamwork: Collaborations & Selections to Design and Build Excellent Projects

The saying “it takes a village” applies to designing and building projects that our clients cherish. Our common goal is to make the ordinary extraordinary through innovative and thoughtful design, and skillful and excellent execution. The choice of materials and products can make or break a renovation or new home, so collaborating with our design partners is an essential component of our work.

Join us on Thursday, April 4th for our first KCB Boiler Room Breakfast Club of 2024. Kevin will lead a discussion with interior designer Meg McSherry, Founder and Principal of Meg McSherry Interiors, and Jake Lilley, Founder and Principal of Jacob Lilley Architects about collaboration processes, how to source the best products for a project, and more. We welcome Duravit as the underwriter for the event.

“We prefer having an interior designer on the team from the start,” says Kevin Cradock, Founder and President of Kevin Cradock Builders, “because I’ve learned over the years that when I finish my work on a project, it isn’t really complete. I realize I need to collaborate with designers to elevate the overall design aspect.” Jake Lilley agrees that interior designers bring another vital viewpoint to a project. He adds that “the interior designers are more in tune with new products because of their intimate relationships with vendors.”

Meg McSherry shared a vision board for a project with us as an example of her process.

Once an architect, builder, or interior designer finds a product or material they know works well, they often use it again and again. “It takes time and a good experience to break in something new,” Cradock explains. And the right client.

In the case of this powder room, Jake was very familiar with the client and knew all the products would be the right choices, among them, a Duravit sink.

Communication is essential when coordinating the selections process with the design and build team. The goal is a seamless collaboration with conscientious attention to the details.

Breakfast attendees will have the opportunity to view and experience Duravit products in the KCB Boiler Room. Look forward to seeing you on April 4th.
